Cabinet Member Question Session

The Performance & Finance Overview & Scrutiny Board met on 11th July at their new time of 4.30 pm.  The Council Leader, Councillor Chris Holley, attended the meeting in his capacity as Cabinet Member for Community Leadership & Democracy.  The Board regularly engages with the 3 Cabinet Members whose portfolios correspond with the Board’s terms of reference.  This started last year as part of the new Overview & Scrutiny Protocol which developed from the Overview & Scrutiny Improvement Programme, building upon the successful tools used by the Child & Family Services Overview & Scrutiny Board.

The Leader talked about partnership working and the role and activities of the Better Swansea Partnership / Local Service Board; the city centre and the recent fire in Fforestfach.  Due to certain issues of a sensitive nature being discussed, the public had to be, unfortunately, excluded from part of the meeting.  Nevertheless the Board went on to have a productive debate with the Cabinet Member.

The next meeting of the Board will be held on 8th August and the agenda for that meeting will be available online approximately a week before the meeting.
