Affordable Housing Panel work gets underway

Councillors on the Affordable Housing Panel met yesterday to agree their programme of evidence gathering to help them answer the question “How can we increase the supply of affordable housing in Swansea?”

The Councillors have identified a wide range of people to speak to and will have their work cut out for them over the next few months. Their work will involve speaking to local housing associations; Council officers involved in housing, planning and finance; external experts such as Shelter, Cymorth, Community Housing Cymru, the Welsh Local Government Association and the Chartered Institute of Housing;  representatives of the private sector including the Council of Mortgage Lenders and the Homebuilders Federation. They will also be looking for examples of good practice from elsewhere in Wales and the UK.

Panel meetings are open to the public and generally take place in the Civic Centre on a Monday morning. If you are interested in attending panel meetings you can contact us in the Scrutiny Team on 01792  636393 or via email rosie.jackson@swansea.gov.uk
