Recycling and landfill performance on the scrutiny agenda

For some years scrutiny has been keeping a close eye on how well the Council is doing to recycle waste and reduce what we send to landfill. This is done through an annual performance report to scrutiny. It’s an important issue as the Welsh Government has set very challenging targets for all Councils to recycle or compost  70% of the waste they collect by 2025.

Councillor Mark Thomas, Cabinet Member for Environment & Transportation, will be meeting with the Service Improvement and Finance Scrutiny Performance Panel on Thursday 4 December  to discuss the latest recycling performance and plans for further improvements to Swansea’s recycling rates.

The meeting will take place at 3.30pm on Thursday 4 December in Committee Room 3, Civic Centre. members of the public are welcome to attend. Please contact the Scrutiny Team on 01792 636292 or scrutiny@swansea.gov.uk  if you plan to attend.
