So, what’s happening in Education Scrutiny?

Swansea Councils education scrutiny body, the Schools Performance Scrutiny Panel, has the role of providing ongoing challenge to schools performance in order to ensure that pupils in Swansea are receiving a high quality education and that it is meeting its objectives to improve schools standards and pupil attainment.

The up-coming meetings for this Panel are:

Wed 18 July 2018 at 2.00pm

The panel carry out pre-decision scrutiny (considering a cabinet report before the decision is made) on changes to the Ethnic Minority and Achievement Service.  They will then give their view on those changes to Cabinet on the 19 July.

Monday 10 September 2018 at 10.30am

Two Councillor representatives from the panel will attend the Education through Regional Working (ERW) Regional Scrutiny Councillor Group.  This group meeting twice yearly and looks at educational attainment on a regional basis, acting as a critical friend to the ERW Joint Committee.

Thursday 27 September 2018 at 4.00pm

Councillors will look at the new standards for teachers and school leaders, the Education Improvement Performance and the ERW progress against business plan priorities locally and regionally.

You can find copies of all scrutiny agendas here  (the papers for both meetings will be available at the end of the week prior to the meeting).

These are open meetings and members of the public are welcome to observe from the public gallery.
