Swansea Council’s education scrutiny body, the Education Performance Scrutiny Panel, has the role of providing ongoing challenge to schools performance in order to ensure that pupils in Swansea are receiving a high quality education and that it is meeting its objectives to improve schools standards and pupil attainment.

They recently met to discuss their work programme for the coming year. Over the next few months they will have the following meetings:

Councillors will look at two items, the performance of pupils receiving free school meals and Elective Home Education.

Thursday 17 October 2019 at 4.00pm

Councillors will meet with the Headteacher and a Chair of Governors from a local primary school to discuss their improvement journey.

Thursday 14 November 2019 at 4.00pm

  • This will be a session looking at the National Mission for Wales and developing a transformational curriculum. Councillors will consider how schools are responding to the draft new curriculum and the related 4 enabling objectives
